Vauxhall Astra Griffin is a brand new special edition

Versatile Powertrain Options

Following the recently released Corsa YES Edition and Mokka Griffin, Vauxhall has unveiled another new special edition model - the Astra Griffin.

Available in electric or petrol variants, the Astra Griffin is what Vauxhall says will help people “make the move to electric as attainable as possible and offer a new entry point to each model line-up.” As well as the two different powertrains, customers can choose between buying the Griffin as a Hatch or Sports Tourer.

Astra Electric Griffin Specifications

The Astra Electric Griffin is powered by a 54kWh battery paired with an electric motor to produce 153hp and 270Nm of torque. The expected range is around 258 miles and a 20-80% charge on a 100kW rapid DC charger takes 26 minutes, while a domestic 7kW wallbox gives a full charge in 8 hours. Prices start at £34,995 for the hatchback version and £37,195 for the Sports Tourer.

Astra Griffin Petrol Variant

If you’re still not ready to make the switch to electric, the Astra Griffin also comes powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. It produces 138 hp and 230Nm of torque with prices starting at £24,795 making it the cheapest of the Astra range by £2,775.

Interior Features and Technology

Inside, the Astra Griffin’s front seats and steering wheel are heated. The cabin contains a ten-inch touchscreen compatible with wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, as well as a ten-inch digital instrument cluster. There’s also wireless charging and a 180-degree camera is added to ones on the front and rear to help with parking. Other driver assistance technology includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure assist, traffic and speed sign recognition and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Vauxhall aims to offer fully electric versions of every car and van in its line up by the end of the year.
