James Bond Jaguar C-X75 re-engineered by CALLUM coming to Bicester Heritage

Jaguar C-X75

Warwick-based design and engineering business CALLUM has taken a Jaguar C-X75 used in the 2015 James Bond film Spectre and re-engineered it for use on the road. For those wishing to see the finished model in the flesh, it will make its public debut at Bicester Heritage’s upcoming Scramble on April 21st.

The Jaguar C-X75 is a car that the company knows well as CALLUM founder Ian Callum was instrumental in its creation in 2010 before it was built by Williams Advanced Engineering for Spectre five years later. In the film, the car is driven by Dave Bautista’s character Mr Hinx as he chases Bond around the moonlit streets of Rome and Vatican City following a Spectre meeting. Five stunt cars were used in the filming of this scene and four ended up surviving. Car Seven, which CALLUM has re-engineered, is now the only one licensed for road use in the UK.

The C-X75 was powered by Jaguar’s 5.0 litre, supercharged V8 surrounded by a robust, tubular spaceframe chassis with rally-derived suspension. When asking CALLUM to work on the commission, the private customer specified that they wanted to use it on the road whilst preserving its history.

This is not the first time CALLUM has taken on this kind of niche commission, having previously transformed an Aston Martin DB4 GT Continuation Series into a road legal car. Changes were made to the original stunt car Jag including new E-marked glass, switchgear, a quieter exhaust and catalytic convertors along with associated engine calibration tuning. New wing mirrors were also created with integrated side repeaters to replace the foam models used on the stunt car and the bodywork and fittings were also given a refresh.

CALLUM engineering director Adam Donfrancesco led the team of engineers in making minor adjustments to dampers and ride height whilst retaining the original driving dynamics which had originally garnered praise on the stunt car.

Over 8,000 will be in attendance at the Scramble on April 21st after it sold out in less than three weeks. CALLUM’s Jaguar C-X75 will be located at The Armoury on the site.

“Ian Callum and CALLUM have been long-time supporters and friends of Bicester Heritage, so we are delighted to be able to showcase its latest work on the C-X75. It is surely one of the finest chapters in his impressive back catalogue, and to see it on the road would be an unforgettable sight,” said Dan Geoghegan, chief executive, Bicester Motion.
