Franco Colapinto joins Alpine F1 as reserve driver
In other news, Franco Colapinto has signed a multi-year deal with Alpine F1 becoming its test and reserve driver ahead of the start of the 2025 season.
Colapinto joined Williams mid-way through last season, replacing the struggling Logan Sargeant as Alex Albon’s teammate. The Argentine driver largely impressed in his nine races, scoring five points before his season somewhat tailed off with a series of crashes.
As part of his new role, Colapinto will attend several Grands Prix during the season while sharing driving duties with Paul Aron and Ryō Hirakawa. He will also help the team with simulator testing at Alpine’s headquarters in Enstone.
Franco Colapinto: “I am super excited to have the opportunity to join BWT Alpine Formula One Team. First of all, I want to say thank you to Williams for all their support from the moment I joined the Academy until the last race in Abu Dhabi. They turned my dream of racing in Formula One into reality, and I will always be grateful for that.
