Volvo EX30 gets new Black Edition — available from £40,060

The Volvo EX30, Britain’s tenth best-selling electric vehicle in 2025, has become the sixth model to receive a Black Edition, with single and twin motor variants available.

The Black Edition treatment was introduced to Volvo’s range in 2023 on the XC60 and was subsequently used on the XC90, XC40, EX40, and EC40.

There’s no option for personalisation here, and the Black Edition does what it says on the tin, with the eye-catching metallic Onyx Black exterior paint matching gloss black 19-inch wheels and tinted rear windows. The front grille strikethrough, iron mark, rear Volvo lettering and name badge are all in gloss black, as well as the roof spoiler and door mirror covers.

A look inside the EX30 Black Edition flips the script somewhat, as you’ll find sporty Indigo blue and upcycled denim trim colours used, while a 12.3-inch centre display gives access to plenty of driver support technology. This is alongside the advanced sensing from Volvo on the car’s exterior, comprising five radars, five cameras and twelve ultrasonic sensors continuously monitoring the car’s surroundings.

The Black Edition’s changes are merely cosmetic and will also be available in Plus and Ultra trim levels.

Prices for the Black Edition start at £40,060 in Single Motor Plus trim, and top out at £45,860 for the Twin Motor Ultra. The first customer deliveries are due to take place in May.

Rob Deane, Commercial Operations Director, Volvo Car UK, said: “The Black Edition variants of our models have struck a chord with buyers in the past and the EX30 looks really striking with the design additions, giving it even more presence. We are really pleased to offer the Black Edition of our compact premium SUV to customers in the UK.”
