The Grand Tour final trailer: New presenters & new challenges revealed ahead of September release

The final trailer for the new generation of The Grand Tour has been revealed ahead of its September 4th release, as the motoring show begins a brand new chapter with brand new presenters.

The new series comes two years after the departure of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, whose 22 years together as hosts of Top Gear and The Grand Tour concluded with the One for the Road special in 2024.

Stepping into their shoes are Francis Bourgeois, James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, and as we previously saw with Top Gear in 2016, life after Clarkson, Hammond and May can be tricky to navigate. Back in February, when the new Grand Tour hosts were announced, even newcomer Holland admitted that 'only a moron would take that job.'

However, based on the final trailer, there are certainly encouraging signs on show. The new trio’s chemistry doesn’t seem to be an issue, helped by Canadian duo Engelsman and Holland’s previous work together as part of the Throttle House YouTube channel. Joining them is Francis Bourgeois, who makes the transition from the world of trainspotting — where he has amassed 3.4 million TikTok followers — to the world of cars.

World travels and famous guests

So what can we expect from the new series based on the trailer?

Bourgeois, Engelsman and Holland will honour The Grand Tour name by trotting around the globe on a series of different motoring adventures.

Heading out to California, the new trio will pit three of America’s greatest muscle cars — the Ford Mustang GTD, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, and Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Evo — against fighter jets.

Then it’s on to Malaysia, where they’ll be tasked with seeing how cheap you can buy a sports car without it going wrong, all while soaking up the country’s rich car culture.

Even tougher challenges await them in Angola, where the lads will journey through the desert in cars not exactly made for the job.

There are also appearances from Clarkson, Hammond and May, who are set to return to the series as guests, along with 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button.

Will the new series be any good? The least everyone watching can do is give it a chance…
