Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar gets fresh livery for 2026 FIA WEC
Peugeot unveiled a new look for its 9X8 World Endurance Championship (WEC) hypercar challenger ahead of the first race of the season later this month.
An event held in Paris last Thursday saw the covers come off Peugeot’s 2026 challenger. The new livery features a black and white striped pattern with hints of red throughout, which Peugeot says “evokes the speed and constant motion of the 9X8 race cars, which are constantly on the move”.
The livery is a result of a collaboration between Peugeot’s Design and Sports departments and replaces the lime green and white livery that has been used on the car since 2024. The white, black and red colours were also chosen as a nod to the original colours offered when the Peugeot 205 GTi hot hatch was released in 1984. The ‘Okenite White’ colour was also used as the launch colour for the new E-208 GTi, which was unveiled at last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This is Peugeot’s fourth full season in the WEC, although the team has yet to finish in the top three in any of those championships. Last season did bring some highlights, however, with podium finishes secured by their cars in the Lone Star Le Mans and 6 Hours of Fuji races.
Emmanuel ESNAULT, Team Principal of Team Peugeot TotalEnergies, said: “Unveiling a new livery is always a key moment for the brand and for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies. It symbolises the start of a new season and a new dynamic driven by renewed ambitions, while remaining firmly rooted in PEUGEOT’s heritage and identity.
The new livery will be showcased for the first time at the opening race of the 2026 WEC: the 1812 km of Qatar on 28th March.
