Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon gets a Moncler finish

As part of The City of Genius show in Shanghai, Mercedes-Benz and luxury fashion brand Moncler revealed their collaborative G-Wagon effort - “Project G-Class Past II Future”. This is the second collaboration between Mercedes and Moncler following Project Mondo G in February 2023.

The finished model is based on a restored G-Class from the 1990s, with Japanese musician and designer NIGO also involved in the styling process. The ‘art piece’, as they are calling it, is a mix of olive green and grey, complimented by black and gold accents. Notable G-Class features like the spare wheel on the rear, 90s black steel wheels and foldable windscreen are all kept and given a modern twist.

The interior has a new take, also, with the seats finished in a chequered upholstery pattern - as well as orange and gold accents - inspired by earlier models. The car has also had a brand new sound system featuring old school boom boxes worked in by G-Class enthusiast and audio specialist Devon Turnbull.

“For me, the 90s were among the most influential decades from a cultural and creative standpoint. Electronic music and the hip-hop scene arose as a new expression of urban character. I wanted to integrate that vibe and energy into the design of the Project G-Class Past II Future by interpreting that legacy for a new contemporary era.”
Fashion designer, music producer and creative director, NIGO.

Only 20 of the G-Class Past II Future will be made with deliveries to customers taking place in April 2025. How much these will cost is anyone’s guess…
