Lewis Hamilton set for shock Ferrari move in 2025
The world of Formula One is in a state of disbelief with the news that Lewis Hamilton is set to join Ferrari in 2025.
Currently being reported by a number of senior sources, an official announcement could be due imminently. It had long been rumoured that a move to Ferrari was a dream of Hamilton’s although these rumours never came to fruition until now. The move would see him drive alongside Charles Leclerc in what would surely be the best pound for pound lineup in F1.
The seven time world champion signed a new two-year deal with Mercedes last summer for 2024 and 2025, however, potential clauses in that deal may have been included to allow him to leave after one season, if desired.
The Brit, now 39 years old, will join Fernando Alonso in racing into his 40s with the lure of a potential world title with the famous Prancing Horse too good an opportunity to turn down - in what may be his final few years in the sport.
Carlos Sainz, who Hamilton would replace in the team, was thought to be in contract negotiations to extend his deal with Ferrari and will now be tasked with finding a new team for 2025 and could kick start a merry-go-round in the F1 driver market.
