A look at the Macan, the first all-electric SUV from Porsche
Meet the new Porsche Macan. Now fully electric, it comes ten years after the launch of the first generation and Porsche claims it has been taken to a new level.
Two models will initially be available - the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo - and the stats are impressive. The Macan 4 has a 0-62mph time of 5.2 seconds, while the Macan Turbo is significantly quicker at 3.3 seconds. The top speeds for the pair are 136mph and 161mph, respectively.
In terms of range, the Macan 4 is expected to be able to reach 380 miles, while the Turbo can manage 367 miles. Whether these targets will actually be achievable day to day remains to be seen.
Both models incorporate Porsche’s new 800-volt PPE (Premium Platform Electric) and the Macan represents the first time the German brand has electrified an existing model. It will also be the first Macan with rear-axle steering and two valve dampers. Dual motors and all-wheel drive are on the pair, while both have the same 100kWh battery, of which 95kWh can be used.
Since 2014, Porsche has delivered 800,000 Macans and it has proven to be one of the brand’s most popular models.
The Macan 4 and Macan Turbo are available to order now for a late 2024 delivery for £69,800 and £95,000, respectively. Porsche says that all Macans will be electric past 2026 as it slowly transitions towards an electrified future.
