Laurent Mekies commits to Red Bull with new contract until 2031

Red Bull Racing’s CEO and Team Principal, Laurent Mekies, has committed his future to the team by signing a new long-term contract until 2031.

The announcement of Mekies contract extension was made by shareholder Mark Mateschitz during a team debrief in Milton Keynes. Red Bull have returned to form in the last couple of races, achieving back-to-back victories in Malaysia and Singapore courtesy of four-time World Champion Max Verstappen.

Verstappen and teammate Isack Hadjar have committed their own futures to the team in recent weeks as Red Bull look to reclaim long-term success.

“I feel privileged to work alongside such a talented and committed group every day”

Laurent Mekies, CEO and Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, said: “I am incredibly proud to continue this journey with Oracle Red Bull Racing, and I would like to thank Chalerm, Mark, and Oliver, the entire Team, and everyone involved for the trust they have placed in the project. What makes this Team special is the way everyone comes together in pursuit of the same goal, and I feel privileged to work alongside such a talented and committed group every day.

Together, with Pierre Wache’s and Ben Hodgkinson’s teams playing a central role in shaping our future, we have a strong platform for the years ahead, and we genuinely believe this is only the beginning. As we look ahead, we will continue to embrace the principles that define us: being free in our thinking, fast in our actions and bold in our decisions.”

20 years in F1 pays dividends for Mekies

Mekies has more than 20 years of experience in Formula One, having held senior leadership roles at Minardi, Toro Rosso, the FIA and Ferrari before joining Red Bull in 2024, where he became Team Principal of Racing Bulls. He was then appointed CEO and Team Principal of Red Bull Racing halfway through the 2025 season.

Despite missing out on the Drivers’ Championship by just two points, Max Verstappen’s form in the second half of 2025 improved significantly since Mekies’ arrival in the role.

F1 now heads to North America for the next race on the calendar: the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.
