Isack Hadjar confirmed as Red Bull driver for 2027
Red Bull Racing has confirmed its driver lineup for 2027 by retaining Isack Hadjar to race alongside four-time World Champion Max Verstappen.
The 21-year-old began racing for Red Bull this year after an impressive debut season in Formula One at sister team Racing Bulls in 2025. After much chopping and changing in recent seasons, Red Bull seemed to have settled on a teammate for Verstappen who will both assist and challenge the Dutch driver in that crucial second seat. Verstappen has had seven teammates since starting life with Red Bull in 2016.
Hadjar’s best result this season came in Monaco, where he achieved a third-place finish and second podium of his career. The Frenchman has missed the last three races with a wrist injury, with Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson stepping in as a replacement, and will return to the driver’s seat at this week’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Laurent Mekies, CEO and Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, said: “We’re very excited to continue our journey with Isack. Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second Formula 1 season, which made extending his contract an easy decision.
From the very beginning, Isack immersed himself in the Team, spending every minute at the factory with his engineers to develop the car, always eager to learn and improve.”

Mekies added: “You could see from that first weekend in Melbourne that he handled the step up with remarkable composure and had earned his place in this seat.
The period since his injury has been a difficult one for Isack, but this extension is a testament to how much we believe in him and we can’t wait to see him back out on track.
We still have a lot we want to achieve this season, but it's a great feeling to know that the drivers, engineers and everyone back at the factory are all heading in the same direction, committed and together."
Hadjar joins Verstappen in extending Red Bull stay
Red Bull will now be hoping a settled driver lineup helps their efforts in the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships for the next season and a half.
Last month, Max Verstappen ended long-standing speculation surrounding his future by extending his stay with Red Bull until 2030.
Formula One now heads to Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with the race being held on Saturday 26 September to avoid a direct conflict with Azerbaijan’s Remembrance Day.
