Following the success of its ‘For the Love of Porsche’ auction, which garnered more than £1.7 million in sales, Car & Classic has announced ‘Poster Cars’, the fourth instalment in its Collector’s Edition series of online auctions.

Describing the collection, Tom Wood, CEO of Car & Classic, said: “This fourth Collector’s Edition celebrates the machines that shaped our enthusiasm for cars, whether through motorsport, magazines, film or the poster on our bedroom walls.

“Our scale, data and digital marketing put each car in front of the enthusiasts and collectors most likely to appreciate it, wherever they are in the world. That reach is one of the defining strengths of an online auction, and we cannot wait to discover where these cars go next.”

The ‘Poster Cars’ online auction — headlined by a BMW M3 E30 formerly owned by Jay Kay and a WRC duo — opens to bidders at 10am UK time on Friday 25 September and will run to the evening on Saturday 3 October.

Ahead of the online auction going live, motoring journalist Chris Harris will explore the ‘Poster Cars’ collection in a new series of films looking at the history, engineering and cultural impact of the cars on show.

2003 Subaru Impreza S9 WRC Chassis 15

Headlining the collection are two World Rally Championship (WRC) cars, the first of which is a 2003 Subaru Impreza S9 WRC, chassis 15, previously driven by Petter Solberg to the 2003 WRC title.

Chassis 15 was driven to a second-place finish at Rally Finland in 2003 in that WRC season, before going on to win 12 rally events in the UK and Ireland between 2004 and 2010, including the Killarney Rally of the Lakes, Malcolm Wilson Stages Rally, and Bushwhacker Stages Rally

The car has since undergone an extensive restoration, where it was stripped down to its bare shell and returned to its original 2003 works specification. The comprehensive inspection and rectification works were completed in July 2026 and cost £15,000.

2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI

Alongside the Subaru is a 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI WRC, chassis 4, previously driven by four-time World Rally Champion Tommi Mäkinen.

Chassis 4 is a genuine Mitsubishi Lancer WRC works car and was driven by Mäkinen at the 2001 Telstra Rally Australia and later by Jani Paasonen at the 2002 Neste Rally Finland event. It subsequently entered private ownership in the UK, where it competed in four national rallies and is presented in tarmac specification with a rebuilt gravel kit also included.

The exterior has been repainted by the original painters, Normandales, while the interior and cockpit have deliberately been left untouched to preserve their originality. In recent times, the car has undergone a rebuild of its engine, gearbox, turbo and clutch.

1946 Delahaye 135 M Three-Position Cabriolet

The Delahaye 135 M is one of the most famous French grand tourers of the immediate post-war period and is renowned for its prestigious racing record, elegant bodywork and sophisticated straight-six engine.

Presented in a two-tone red livery with a black leather interior, this 1946 example has undergone a complete mechanical restoration, including a complete engine rebuild and a new clutch, as well as gearbox, differential, exhaust system, brakes, wheels and tyre replacements. The work was carried out by Delahaye 135 experts, Belcher Engineering in Norfolk.

The Delahaye has been with its current owner since 2014 and has a history of rally participation in France, having previously been stored for a long period in the south of France. Under its previous owner, the car has won concours d’élégance and exhibition awards.

1993 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 (964)

Something of a limited edition, this 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 (964) is one of only 1,437 produced worldwide, and one of just 159 built in right-hand drive. The model is one of the most sought-after air-cooled 911s and was only in production for two years, with this example potentially one of only 31-42 known to be supplied to the UK market.

With just 15,898 miles on the clock, the 911 is presented in Metallic Black over a Cashmere Beige full leather interior.

1992 Porsche Carrera RS 964 Coupé

This 1992 Porsche Carrera RS 964 Coupé is one of just 2,282 examples made and is powered by a naturally aspirated M64/03 flat-six and mated to a G50/10 five-speed manual gearbox. The lightweight 911 is presented in left-hand drive and offers one of the most focused driving experiences of its era.

Having originally been delivered to the Netherlands in 1992, where it was maintained by a succession of Porsche OPCs and specialists, the model then made its way to the UK in early 2020. It has been under the stewardship of Williams Crawford, who have since carried out a comprehensive programme of mechanical work.

1983 (2004) Ford C100 Mk3 Group C1

Designed by Tony Southgate to take on the mighty Porsche at Le Mans, this Ford C100 Mk3 represents the ultimate evolution of Ford of Europe's ambitions in the Group C1 endurance racing programme.

The car was tested at Le Castellet by Gordon Spice and Marc Surer, where it was significantly faster than the turbocharged Porsche 956 and the Rondeau M482. Unfortunately, however, its ambitions to race at Le Mans never came to pass after internal politics at Ford saw the project cancelled. The aerodynamic and ground-effect work on the car would ultimately go on to shape Southgate’s work on the Jaguar XJR8 and XJR9, with the latter winning the 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Chassis 83C100-02 is one of only two Mk3 chassis ever built and the sole surviving example, with the other — chassis 83C100-01 — converted into a Ford Transit Supervan II and later the Supervan III. It now lives at the Ford Heritage Centre in Daventry.

The seller rates the mechanical condition of Mk3 as like new thanks to its Cosworth DFL engine being completely rebuilt by Geoff Page Racing. It is also eligible for Masters Series Group C and Peter Auto's Group C Racing events.

2007 Porsche 911 Turbo 997 - RUF RT600

Thought to be one of just 23 RUF RT600s ever produced, this 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo 997 from RUF Automobile tuning house is very rare in 911 terms.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre Mezger flat-six paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, the model has had significant sums spent on it, around 173,000 euros, over its lifetime. This massive spend saw comprehensive engine, chassis and braking upgrades applied to the twin-turbocharged Mezger unit, giving it 620hp of output.

Despite being originally delivered in 2007 in Cobalt Blue, the model has been resprayed by RUF in Classic Grey with a unique burgundy racing stripe and RUF carbon bonnet with RUF badges. The interior has been retrimmed by RUF with a bespoke burgundy interior, starting with two foldable carbon fibre sport bucket seats.

This 911 comes with 65,303 miles on the clock.

1972 BMW 3.0 CSL Coupé

Since its inception in BMW Motorsport's Group A touring car homologation programme in 1986, the BMW E30 M3 has become one of the most revered driver’s cars of the last four decades.

This 1987 example was taken on by BMW marque specialist Classic Heroes, who developed it into a 'Competition spec' E30 M3 that would be equally as quick on track as it was comfortable on the road. The car then found its way into the hands of Jamiroquai singer, car collector and renowned petrolhead Jay Kay. The sale includes a photograph of Jay Kay with the car and video evidence of him driving the car does exist.

At the heart of the E30 MW is its 2.5-litre competition engine producing circa 260bhp at the flywheel and is paired with a short-shift gear change for precise, mechanical shifts. The chassis has been uprated with sports suspension, AP front discs and callipers, and 17-inch wheels, allowing serious fun to be had on track.
