A rare 1964 Mercedez-Benz 230L, once on the cover of a 2009 issue of Classic & Sportscar magazine, will be part of H&H Classics’ upcoming auction at Pavilion Gardens in Buxton. Restored by marque specialist Silchester Garage, the Pagoda is expected to sell for £60,000 - £70,000.

The prestigious vehicle - finished in Horizon Blue with Dark Blue upholstery - is sure to be of interest to collectors and carries the reg number ‘DHJ 505B’.

It has been maintained by Pagoda specialist Roger Edward Motors and comes equipped with both a hard and soft top, automatic transmission and power steering. A Becker Mexico Retro stereo worth £3,000 is a bonus addition.

A copy of its Classic & Sportscar magazine feature, a car cover, and a collection of sundry paperwork will all be included in the sale.

Damian Jones, senior motorcar specialist at H&H Classics, said: “The 230SL is a real piece of automotive art. From its magazine cover fame to its restoration and care by renowned specialists, it represents a triumph in classic luxury and German engineering of the mid 1960s.”
