Callum introduces Aqua Mist as its first Colour of the Year
British design and engineering company Callum has introduced its Colour of the Year forecast for 2025, revealing Aqua Mist. The colour is the first of an annual selection from the brand, as it aims to use its design expertise to predict popular trends to be used across automotive, textiles and interior design.
Who is Callum?
The Warwick-based brand was founded in 2019 by prolific car designer Ian Callum and specialises in using the latest technology to create and craft its own bespoke and limited-edition products. Callum’s team of 20 staff are experienced in the fields of art, audio, automotive, fashion and motorsport.
Its first in-house model is the Callum Skye, a multi terrain EV that blends the design of a beach buggy and Jaguar F-Type.
Other creations from the design and automotive company include a fast charging collaboration with Nyobolt and the re-engineering of a James Bond Jaguar C-X75 stunt car.
What is Aqua Mist?
The colour is a paste blend of green and blue, which Callum says symbolises “optimism, tranquillity
and rejuvenation” and “represents renewal and innovation in a fast-changing world”.
In textiles, Aqua Mist has been designed to be used in matte or satin finishes as well as rubberised surfaces and smooth plastics.
Callum’s colour, material and finishes designer, Charlotte Jones, said, “Aqua Mist offers a fresh, calming energy. Its soft and cool undertones are associated with tranquility and openness, providing a balanced base that doesn’t overwhelm the senses. Its versatility means it is suited to a number of applications, materials and surface textures, while layering with Callum’s specially-selected balancing colors creates a fun, energetic vibe.”
As well as Aqua Mist, Callum has created a complementary palette with two balancing colours - Neon Riot and Midnight Ride.
Neon Riot
Described as attention grabbing hot pink, Neon Riot adds a pop of brightness and “evokes feelings of excitment and creativity”.
Midnight Tide
The darker Midnight Tide is a darker, more intense shade designed as a “grounding point” and to balance the brighter Neon Riot and Aqua Mist colours.
How will Callum use Aqua Mist in 2025?
Callum will incorporate Aqua Mist into its branding throughout 2025, with images provided showing the colour being used on its Skye buggy. The brand will also look to collaborate with other brands and partners to showcase Aqua Mist in “creative, impactful ways”.
Design director, Ian Callum, said, “Every design team in the world looks at future aesthetics to stay relevant and appeal to ever-evolving consumer tastes. Plus, it’s creative and a lot of fun. The CALLUM Colour of the Year 2025 is the first time we’ve made any of our forecasting work public.”
