Audi is set to begin a $4 billion investment project that will see the brand open its first production facility in the United States.
The facility in Georgia will create around 4,500 jobs and see an annual production capacity of up to 200,00 vehicles. Construction of the plant is scheduled to begin in 2027, with the first vehicles due to head into production in the early 2030s.
Audi will look to tailor premium SUVs to North American customers in what is the world’s second-largest premium market, as it establishes the third major pillar of its production network alongside Europe and China. The chosen Middle Georgia Mega Site also allows the opportunity and space for expansion in the future.
As well as the 4,500 jobs created, Audi is expecting the new plant to create opportunities for suppliers, service providers and training partners in the region.
The build also allows Audi to bypass any future problems caused by tariffs, which have caused issues in the automotive industry in recent years.
Brian P. Kemp, Governor of Georgia, says: “Georgia has built a reputation as a place where global companies come to shape the future of their industries. Audi’s decision to establish its first American manufacturing plant here is another defining moment in that journey. We are proud to welcome one of the world’s most iconic automotive brands to Georgia. Together, we have an opportunity to create lasting economic prosperity, open new doors for our communities and help shape the next generation of American automotive manufacturing.”
