The new 217mph Aston Martin Valhalla Spider is £1.3 million worth of drop top fun

Aston Martin has revealed the Valhalla Spider, the brand’s fastest open-cockpit car ever made and its first mid-engined open-cockpit production supercar.

The Valhalla Spider is the work of Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT), which has used F1 data on dynamics, aerodynamics and materials to ‘push the boundaries of supercar engineering and performance’. The Spider version follows the Valhalla Coupe, released earlier this year.

That F1-derived data has formed the Valhalla’s carbon structure, which uses technology specifically developed for Aston Martin, with the upper and lower sections moulded using a combination of Resin-Transfer-Moulding process (RTM) and autoclave technology. The result is a stronger, yet lighter structure without compromising safety or comfort.

With a removable black fabric roof that stows away as standard, the Valhalla Spider is all about open-top cruising. An optional carbon fibre hardtop is available as an alternative solution. Performance with the roof off is maintained thanks to a unique wind deflector clipped into position after the roof panel is removed, which manages airflow over the open cockpit.

Powertrain

Under the bonnet of the Valhalla Spider sits a 1,064bhp hybrid powertrain, combining an 816bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors. Two of the electric motors drive the front e-axle, with full Electric Torque Vectoring (E-TV) to enhance both agility and stability, while the third is integrated alongside the 8-speed DCT transmission to assist the V8 engine in driving the rear axle and e-diff.

What does this mean in terms of raw speed? Well, with the fabric roof in place, speeds of up to 124mph are achievable, while 217mph is gettable with the roof off. That’s right, it’s even faster than the 205 mph V12-powered Valkyrie Spider. And thanks to tricks from AMPT, different driving modes allow the car to be tailored to maintain consistent aerodynamic performance and dynamic behaviour with the roof on or off, with maximum downforce in excess of 600kg.

Interior

Inside, a new carbon fibre Touring Seat now comes as standard on the Valhalla Spider, allowing easier entry and exit with the roof on, although the original carbon fibre from the Coupe version can be retained at no extra cost if preferred.

Optional interior trims include Alcantara, Semi Aniline Leather and a combination of both, with contrast stitching, plenty of carbon fibre and decorative touches available.

Price & Debut Appearance

While prices haven’t been officially confirmed, a rumoured figure of £1.3 million is doing the rounds on the grapevine, with the majority already sold. Deliveries are set to begin in Q3 of 2027.

The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider will make its global debut this weekend at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, which is also the site of the Broad Arrow Auction.
