Alpine A290 driven by Pierre Gasly to UK red carpet debut
The hot hatch appeared at the F1 75 Live event in London
Alpine showed off its A290 on the red carpet as the world’s gaze was directed towards this week’s F1 75 event in London.
With Pierre Gasly behind the wheel and new teammate Jack Doohan as passenger, the A290 turned up to the event that all twenty F1 drivers attended as the sport’s 75th anniversary was celebrated in front of 15,000 fans at The O2 arena.
“A little bit of the flavour of F1 to the roads”
Gasly spoke about his experience of driving the A290 to the event: "I felt right at home in the A290, because it brings a little bit of the flavour of F1 to the roads, with details like its F1-inspired overtake button and regenerative braking force dial on the steering wheel. F1 is a magical sport, and this is a road car that brings some of that magic to everyday driving. It's small, fast and fun - the first true hot hatch for the electric age."
Critical acclaim
Since its reveal, the Alpine A290 has enjoyed critical success and was recently named Car of the Year 2025 alongside the Renault 5 E-Tech. Order books for the 180hp and 220hp variants opened last month, with prices starting from £33,500 OTR. Potential customers will be able to test drive an A290 from March, while first deliveries are expected to take place in April.
Alpine A390 to be officially presented in May
Alpine will present its A390 to the world at the brand’s historic birthplace in Dieppe, France.
We had already been given a glimpse of Alpine’s intentions with the reveal of the A390_β show car at last October’s Paris Motor Show. It is set to become the French brand’s first 100% electric sport fastback and the second in Alpine’s Dream Garage after the A290 hot hatch.
The A390 is being referred to by Alpine as a reinvention of the A110 as a five-seater and its reveal takes place on 27 May, just three days before the marque’s 70th anniversary event from 30 May to 1 June in Dieppe.
