Volvo EX30 Cargo is the brand’s first commercial vehicle
Volvo has revealed the EX30 Cargo, an electric car-derived van designed for business and fleet customers.
The new vehicle — based on the fully electric EX30 — will be available to buy in the UK as both EX30 Cargo and EX30 Cross Country Cargo variants, with Volvo saying it offers ‘practical load space with premium comfort and safety’.
Loading Capacity
So, how much cargo space does the EX30 Cargo have?
Taking out the rear seats from the EX30 and replacing them with a flat floor and access panel to the lower floor has maximised the payload to 390kg and a capacity of 1,000 litres. To achieve this, the cabin and cargo area have been separated by a specially designed payload bulkhead, as well as modified rear side panels and doors.
It is also now easier to load too, with the EX30 Cargo having extended rear door access and a work light to improve visibility in the load area. Extra strength has been given to the cargo bay also, thanks to the underfloor subframe and extra mounting points.
Range & Powertrain
Expect 300 miles of electric range from the EX30 Cargo, while in terms of performance, the vehicle is available with the P3 (150hp) or P5 (272hp) powertrains in Extended Range form or P5 and with the standard range.
Higher performance is offered through the P8 (428hp) All Wheel Drive powertrain version, and there’s the choice of two trims — Core and Plus — alongside the Cross Country Plus.
Interior & Technology
Inside, you’ll find heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, while the cabin experience is improved by a Harman Kardon premium sound system and wireless phone charging ability.
There’s plenty of tech which comes as standard, including Safe Space Technology and Google Automotive Services, alongside Adaptive Cruise Control. Front and rear Park Assist paired with a rear Park Assist camera are also available, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Price
The EX30 Cargo is priced from £36,010 OTR, and will be available to buy through Volvo Car UK’s fleet sales channels. Customers can choose newly ordered vehicles or existing EX30s to be converted, meaning they will have either a 2026 or 2027 reg plate.
