Fancy a cuppa? Check out Vauxhall’s electric tea-making van concept

Say hello to the Vivaro Electrici-TEA concept, Vauxhall’s solution to that age old problem faced by tradesmen in Britain.

Recent research commissioned by Vauxhall found that tradesmen consume around three to four cups of tea per day. Other findings showed that 71% of tradies said they appreciated a customer making them a brew on the job, and 90% said a hot drink would significantly improve their day.

So Vauxhall has stepped up, taking one of its trusty Vivaro Electric vans, with its 6.6m3 of load space, and equipping it with a built-in tea-making station, including an electric kettle, fridge, sink, and sugar dispenser.

The tea-making station is accessed via the Vivaro’s twin sliding doors and stored in a custom-made space, so it’s secure on the move. The ultimate question is whether the station makes a significant impact on the van’s 75kWh battery and reduce its predicted 219 miles of range. At least the facilities give you something to do while you wait 45 minutes for a 5-80% charge…

“The ultimate tea-making solution”

Steve Catlin, Vauxhall Managing Director, said: “With 90% of tradespeople saying that a good hot drink has a positive impact on their day, we wanted to create the ultimate tea-making solution for the thirsty tradespeople of Britain; the Vivaro Electrici-TEA concept does exactly that, providing all the tools necessary to create that perfect brew from the comfort of their own van.

“The builder’s brew can mean a wide variety of things, but our research puts the uncertainty to bed to ensure those working on site get what they are looking for.

“Vauxhall is proud to be the UK’s best-selling electric van manufacturer and one of the top choices for British tradespeople, and we created the Vivaro Electrici-TEA concept with them in mind. It’s time we put an end to poorly made cuppas and give tradespeople the right tool for the job.”

What do you think of the Vivaro Electrici-TEA concept?
