Top Gun Maverick Aston Martin headlines Collecting Cars Sealed Bids auction
Collecting Cars has announced it has reached £1 billion worth of consignments sold across its platforms since its formation.
Coinciding with this major milestone is the launch of its October Sealed Bids auction, which sees three collectable supercars offered on its platform for one week only.
£1 billion in sales achieved in just six years
Over 21,500 sales have taken place since Collecting Cars launched in 2019, with 1,800 cars sold for prices exceeding £100,000.
Porsche is the brand that has had the most sales on the online auction platform, accounting for more than 3,000, of which 2,500 have been 911s. This is followed by BMW and Mercedes-Benz with over 1,500 cars sold, and Land Rover and Range Rover with 1,200 sales. Closely behind is Ferrari, which has had 1,000 of its vehicles sold.
Multiple world record public sale prices have been broken on Collecting Cars, most notably the 2000 Subaru Impreza S6 WRC, formerly driven by Richard Burns, which achieved £610,000.
There were also the two Porsches: a 2023 Porsche 992 GT3 RS Weissach Pack, which achieved £414,950, and a 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera Cup worth £353,585.
Three Collectable Supercars
As Collecting Cars celebrates its historic achievement, the online platform has launched its October Sealed Bids auction, which runs from today until its closure on October 16th.
Let’s take a look at the three collectable supercars being offered…
2021 Aston Martin V12 Speedster
One of just 88 ever produced, this 2021 Aston Martin V12 comes with a twist and has been given an official ‘Top Gun Maverick Specification’ transformation.
The car is currently based in Qatar and is powered by a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12, with only 1,118 miles on the clock. This isn’t the main attraction, however, as Aston’s Q department has turned this Speedster into a celebration of the Tom Cruise franchise, featuring Maverick-inspired helmets, painted decals and other nods to the film. Finished in Skyfall Silver with bold blue accents and a black leather interior, this Aston is equally as comfortable on the concours or open road.
2009 Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 SV
The lightweight version of Lamborghini’s flagship V12 is one of only 186 examples built, and more specifically, one of only 28 right-hand drive models.
Showing 15,000 miles on the clock from new, this Murciélago delivers a 0-60mph time of just 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 213mph thanks to its 661bhp V12 engine. It is finished in Arancio Atlas with black ‘SV’ side decals over a Nero Alcantara-trimmed cabin featuring tons of carbon-fibre trim, with orange stitching, seat detailing, and headrest embroidery.
1991 Ferrari F40
The dream car for hundreds of thousands of petrolheads, this 1991 Ferrari F40 with 16,777 miles on the clock has recently had its fuel cells replaced, as well as major overhauls of the suspension and brakes. Along with its ownership history from new, this makes it one of the more desirable F40s on the market and is powered by its famous twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V8 engine.
Currently based in Canada, this F40 benefits from a Ferrari Classiche certification, confirming the presence of its original engine, gearbox, and bodywork.
How will they fare at auction? Check back in on October 16th.
