Theon Design reveals 421bhp carbon-bodied 911 commission

Theon Design is back at it again with another 911 restomod commission, this time taking a 964 and turning it into a carbon-bodied high-performance model for one lucky client.

At the heart of the build is a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six producing 421bhp and 324 ft lbs of torque paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive configuration. And weighing only 1,146 kg, thanks to its full carbon fibre body and lightweight aerospace-grade electrical systems, the car achieves a better power-to-weight ratio than a current 992.2 GT3.

Adam Hawley, Founder of Theon Design called the latest commission “more contemporary” than some of the company’s previous builds.

Hawley said: “The best Theon commissions don't look backwards or forwards. They feel timeless. This car has a more contemporary character than many of our previous builds, but every decision was made with the same objective: to continue the philosophy of the air-cooled 911 in the most considered way possible."

Exterior

Sitting on 17-inch wheels, the full carbon fibre body commission is finished in Crayon Grey with Lizard Green accents. It retains the original steel doors to give it the classic 911 feel, although a ‘Turbonite’ Porsche bonnet crest introduces a more contemporary surface treatment.

Interior

Inside, the same colour scheme and design seen on the exterior is continued, while a mix of carbon fibre panels, Liquorice leather and Lizard Green stitching are used in the cabin. Recaro RS seats get the same treatment, while aluminium is used on the pedals, door handles, vents and dashboard inserts.

In terms of tech, Theon has tried to keep it as understated but modern as possible. The original Becker Mexico head unit is paired with a Hertz amplifier and six Focal speakers, while wireless charging is available through the carbon fibre centre console.

How many Theon commissions get made and what do they cost?

Theon only creates six commissions every year, with each one taking approximately 6,000 hours to develop through close collaboration between client and studio. All builds take place at Theon’s Oxfordshire base at the heart of the UK’s Motorsport Valley using a blend of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology seen in F1 and aerospace industries.

Each Theon take on an air-cooled 911 starts from £430,000, excluding donor car, shipping and local taxes.
