The Motorist is the UK’s Classic Capital

The Motorist

Footman James has announced The Motorist in North Yorkshire as the UK’s Classic Capital and the best place in the country to celebrate classic cars and motorbikes.

Last month, the five finalists were revealed as the classic vehicle insurance broker searched for the most popular location in Britain for the classic car and bike community. The Motorist gained 39% of the public vote alongside backing from the FJ judges to beat competition from Bicester Heritage, Coleshill Auto Breakfast Meet, Goodwood Motor Circuit, and Re:Fuel to be crowned as the winning spot.

Since its launch, The Motorist has become an essential stop to make for petrolheads, with voters praising its “great atmosphere”, and caters for its guests with an on-site cafe, restaurant and garage & body shop. Based in Sherburn in Elmet, near Leeds, it is open all year round and even hosts themed shows and meets each week. Despite being a haven for classic vehicle enthusiasts, there is plenty of space for all and visitors are welcome no matter what vehicle they have. And if you’re even looking for a wedding venue, The Motorist has you covered.

“We are delighted to have been recognised and to have won this fantastic award, voted for by car enthusiasts, our wonderful visitors and guests,” said Alec Howarth, Managing Director at The Motorist.

“We are excited over the journey we are taking together and this accolade really does spur us on, filling all the team at The Motorist with great pride and thanks. Thank you to Footman James, Classic Capital, the judges and to all those that took time to vote for us as we represent Yorkshire in this competition, your support is greatly appreciated.”
