Rare low-mileage Ferrari Monza SP2 coming to Villa d’Este auction

With summer slowly approaching, various automotive events are starting to take shape, and none is as glamorous as the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como.

The stunning setting is matched by an even more stunning array of rare cars, and thanks to the Broad Arrows Auction, you may even get to take one home with you. Of course, you may have to dig quite deep into your pockets to make that happen…

One of the cars making headlines ahead of this year’s auction is a 2020 Ferrari Monza SP2 — one of only 499 Icona series SP1 and SP2 models produced, which were inspired by iconic cars from the Prancing Horse’s illustrious history.

The Monza SP2 is inspired by heritage Ferraris like the 1948 Ferrari 166MM, the 750 Monza, and the 860 Monza. It is fitted with a 6.5-litre V12 engine from the 812 Superfast encased in a carbon fibre barchetta body, delivering 809bhp and 719 Nm of torque. At the time of launch, it was Ferrari’s most powerful naturally-aspirated engine and enables the Monza SP2 to accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds.

This extremely low-mileage (259 miles) model has no windscreen, instead benefiting from a ‘Virtual Windshield’ created by Ferrari engineers that channels airflow through the bonnet and out. It is the perfect modern interpretation of models you’d see taking on the Mille Miglia in days gone by and is finished in a two-tone livery comprising Rosso California with a Grigio Coburn nose section and Argento Nürburgring accents that throws back to some of Ferrari’s most memorable racing colour schemes.

Inside, the cockpit features two different tones of blue used in its fabric and leather, with the famous Prancing Horse embroidered on the headrests. The race-inspired car also comes with four-point seatbelts and two carbon fibre helmets by Berluti.

Earlier this month, a 2021 Ferrari Monza SP2 was sold at Broad Arrow’s Amelia Auction in North America for $4,955,000 (£3,734,162).

The Broad Arrow Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction takes place at the spectacular Villa Erba on the shores of Lake Como from 16-17 May 2026.
