70 Years Since Fangio’s Win at Monza
This week marked seventy years since Juan Manuel Fangio celebrated his first and only victory of the season in the final race at Monza, at the wheel of his Maserati A6GCM.
The Argentinian won his first World Championship in two years prior, but 1953 hadn’t been a season to remember. However, that didn’t stop him from ending the calendar on a high by racing to victory at Monza. Acting as something of a turning point, Fangio would then go on to win the World Drivers’ Championship in the next four seasons and cement his legacy as one of the all time greats alongside Senna and Schumacher.
