The McLaren 750S JC96 is a Japan-only limited edition
First limited edition McLaren to be offered only in Japan
McLaren today unveiled the 750S JC96, a limited edition 750S that celebrates the British brand’s motorsport exploits in the Land of the Rising Sun.
The idea for the 750S JC96 was inspired by the McLaren F1 GTRs that competed in the 1996 All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC). Only 61 will be available to buy, a nod to the number 61 car shared by John Neilsen and David Brabham that won the Driver’s Championship.
Available as a coupe or Spider, the 750S JC96 is the first limited edition McLaren to be offered only in Japan and wears a livery inspired by the Team Goh F1 GTRs that competed in the 1996 JGTC campaign. The ‘Tiger Stripe’ design blends Rocket Pink and Tarmac Grey paintwork, although buyers can also customise their own with colour choices like Memphis Red, Titanium Silver, Ice White and Graphite Grey.
Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Automotive, said: “The 750S JC96 is our love letter to McLaren in Japan. Our Japanese clients demand track-inspired performance but without compromising on the tailor-made personalisation and attention to detail that truly makes a McLaren their McLaren.
Powering the 750S JC96 edition is the same 740bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 seen on the standard version.
MSO High Downforce Kit
The 61 limited edition McLarens will incorporate the MSO High Downforce Kit for the first time on a 750S. It takes inspiration from the first High Downforce Kit, which was eventually adapted and reworked before being implemented in the 1996-spec F1 GTR.
The kit features a revised front bumper with a dual-element splitter, a Raised Active Rear Spoiler with integrated endplates, and a Louvred Under-wing Panel, all of which improve aerodynamics and give 10% additional downforce.
The 750S JC96 also debuts a new Ultra-Lightweight ‘Delta’ 15-spoke forged alloy wheel paired with Gold red McLaren logo brake calipers, the design of which is influenced by race wheels from longtail variants of the F1 GTR. More references to the GTR are found in the Central-exit Stainless Steel Sports Exhaust in a Natural Titanium finish.
Interior
Inside, there is the choice of three types of Alcantara upholstery, which have been made to ‘instil the spirit’ of the 1996 spec F1 GTR.
There is an F1-inspired pedal set, Drive Select switches, and all 61 limited edition cars will contain a unique plaque with the JC96 branding and production number, as well as JC96 branding stitched into the headrests.
