Mansour Ojjeh McLaren collection sold by Tom Hartley Jnr

Mansour Ojjeh’s extraordinary collection of 20 McLaren supercars has been bought in its entirety just two months after going on sale.

The sale was handled by Tom Hartley Jnr, who earlier in the year sold Bernie Ecclestone’s 69 car collection for a reported £500 million. While Ecclestone’s cars were bought by Mark Mateschitz, the son of the late co-founder of Red Bull, Dietrich Mateschitz, the identity and sale price of Ojjeh’s collection will remain anonymous.

Unlikely to ever be repeated, Ojjeh’s collection of McLarens comprised the final chassis of each respective model, and almost all were in unused, factory-fresh condition. One of the models was a McLaren F1, which drew multiple world-record offers on its own; however, the Ojjeh family and Tom Hartley Jnr insisted on keeping the collection intact.

Other significant models in the collection include the P1 GTR, Speedtail, multiple Senna variants, Sabre and Elva, with all in a bespoke shade of ‘Yquem’ now officially known as ‘Mansour Orange’.

Ojjeh and McLaren

As CEO of private holdings company TAG, Ojjeh’s connection with McLaren began in the early 1980s, with TAG-Porsche engines helping the British team to multiple world championships. Most notably, Ojjeh and McLaren chief executive Ron Dennis persuaded Niki Lauda to come out of retirement to race for the team.

Ojjeh was also pivotal in the formation of McLaren Automotive, which saw the creation of the highly praised, Gordon Murray-designed McLaren F1 road car.

“The Mansour Ojjeh collection represents the very best of what McLaren stands for”

“To have been entrusted with the sale of this extraordinary collection by the Ojjeh family has been a true privilege,” said Tom Hartley Jnr. “This is not just a sale – it is the important and respectful transfer of a legacy. The Mansour Ojjeh collection represents the very best of what McLaren stands for – innovation, individuality, quality, and excellence – and, just as we were delighted to have been trusted by Bernie Ecclestone to handle for him the sale of his unique collection of 69 Grand Prix and Formula 1 cars just a few months ago, so also are we extremely proud to have been able to play our part in ensuring that Mansour’s fantastic collection of McLarens will remain intact for future generations to admire.”
