Kia EV2 unveiled as 'most accessible' entry into brand’s EV lineup
Kia has unveiled the EV2, its most compact electric car yet, which offers a new entry point into its expanding electric range and may even serve as a daily driver for households in Europe.
The brand says the SUV, which sits in Europe’s second-largest automotive segment, expands Kia’s reach to a broader audience across the continent. The EV2 will be built at Kia’s Žilina plant in Slovakia, with two battery options offered at launch.
Exterior
At four metres long, Kia says the EV2 is compact enough for an urban environment but has the same exterior characteristics as its larger EVs to give it greater ‘stance and character’.
Customers can tailor the EV2 to their own preference, with wheel options ranging from 16 to 19-inch designs, and exterior finishes including solid, metallic, pearl and matte. The more premium ‘GT-Line’ variant features bold coloured garnishes and high gloss accents on the bumper and lower front grille.
Interior
Inside, a wraparound dashboard contains Kia’s latest triple-screen ccNC infotainment system, which features a 12.3-inch driver cluster, 5.3-inch climate control screen, and 12.3-inch central touchscreen display.
The modern interior is sustainably sourced and includes biobased plastics and upholstery, as well as felts made from recycled fishing nets. Ambient lighting helps to create a ‘calming cabin, which Kia says is inspired by a “Picnic Box” concept.
Customers are also able to choose between a five or four-seat layout with independent sliding and reclining rear seats. The EV2’s 2,565 millimetre wheelbase allows one of the largest interiors for a B-segment SUV, and provides 403 litres of boot capacity, complemented by an addition 15 litres in the ‘frunk’.
Battery Options
The EV2 is available with two battery options: a 42.2kWh standard-range battery, which provides 196 miles of range, and a 61.0kWh long-range battery that gives 278 miles.
Both versions are capable of rapid DC fast charging thanks to their 400V architecture, with the standard range model completing the process in 29 minutes and the long range model taking around half an hour.
Price & Release Date
While there’s no word on price yet, expect figures around £25,000 for the standard range model, with the long-range models in high spec coming in at around £30,000.
We must also wait for an official release date, although we know production will begin in two phases, with the standard-range model entering production in February 2026, followed by long-range and ‘GT-line’ variants from June 2026.
