Jenson Interceptor inspires new luxury Grand Tourer
Jenson International Automotive (JIA) is set to launch a new high-performance, luxury Grand Tourer in 2026, inspired by the 1960s Interceptor.
The luxury GT model will be completely new from the ground up, with an aluminium chassis and bespoke V8 engine, which JIA says will deliver a ‘fully analogue driving experience’. It will be developed and handcrafted by a dedicated new division of JIA and made available to buy in the UK in ‘ultra-low numbers’.
Only 6,408 Interceptors were produced by Jenson Motors in West Bromwich between 1966 and 1976, with some styling cues taken from the Brasinca Uirapuru and V8 engines initially sourced from Chrysler. Several variants, including the Four Wheel Drive FF, SP, convertible and coupé were all created in its ten-year run, before the company experienced financial difficulty, ultimately ending with liquidation in the 1990s.
JIA, based in Banbury, was set up in 2010 and specialises in the restoration of original Interceptors alongside building bespoke versions of its Interceptor R.

David Duerden, Jensen International Automotive Managing Director, commented: “Taking the theme of the luxury British GT to fresh, thoroughly modern heights, JIA’s first car is designed and engineered from the ground up to deliver an unmatched, deeply immersive, V8-powered driving experience. While it takes inspiration from the Jensen Interceptor launched 60 years ago, this is certainly no ‘restomod’ or ‘continuation’ and will stand proudly as a completely all-new car in its own right.”
Further details from JIA are set to be revealed in the coming months, so watch this space.
