Jack Doohan promoted by Alpine for 2025 F1 season

Alpine has promoted Jack Doohan to its driver lineup for the 2025 F1 season.

The 21 year old has spent the last two seasons as a reserve driver for Alpine and makes the step up following Estaban Ocon’s move to Haas. He initially combined this role with duties in Formula 2 for Virtuosi Racing, where he finished third in the 2023 season drivers’ standings.

Doohan has signed a one year deal at Alpine and will become teammates with Pierre Gasly. He also joins fellow rookie Oliver Bearman on the grid for next season, with the Briton recently joining Haas after one race as a replacement for Ferrari in Saudi Arabia. Australian driver Doohan will make his debut at his home Grand Prix in Melbourne in the 2025 season opener on March 16th.

Jack Doohan: “It’s exceptionally satisfying to be the first graduate of the Alpine Academy to be in a race seat with the team and I’m extremely thankful to those who supported me along the way to make this a reality. It's an exciting moment, a proud day for my family, and I look forward to taking it all in and pushing hard behind the scenes.”

Oliver Oakes, Team Principal: ”Personally, I have worked with Jack back in 2019 and I am fully aware of his raw talent and potential. He is a very hard worker behind the scenes and his commitment is hugely valued by the entire team. Alongside Pierre, we have a well-balanced driver line-up with a good combination between youthful energy, experience, and pure speed.”

There are now just three driver spots yet to be confirmed on the 2025 grid. Rumours suggest Kimi Antonelli and Liam Lawson are set to join Mercedes and RB respectively, while Sauber’s spot alongside Nico Hulkenberg remains up for grabs.
