Introducing the refreshed Morgan Plus Four
The Morgan Plus Four - something seen on British roads for over 70 years - has been given a modern refresh for 2024.
The Plus 4 was first introduced in 1950 at the Earl’s Court Motor Show in London and has since proven to be one of the company’s most popular models. Thousands of examples have been produced throughout its life, with many exported around the world, including the USA. The Plus 4 was also notable for providing Morgan with its most memorable motorsport win, having been victorious in its class at the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hours race.
Most notable at first glance for the 2024 Plus Four are the new front and rear lights which have been conceived by Morgan’s in-house design and engineering teams and manufactured exclusively for the brand. The new 8” headlight returns to the more. traditional proportions of the Plus Four and incorporates the front indicator, allowing the separately mounted indicator units to be removed.
The Plus Four also benefits from the introduction of new wings, front splitter, rear diffuser, and floating front and rear number plate plinths, resulting in a more simplistic appearance. A new model badge with Morgan’s own H.F.S. Bold typeface is a contemporary interpretation of the classic design. Also designed in-house and manufactured exclusively for Morgan are the rear-view mirror and wing mirrors.
Morgan says the new Plus Four “prioritises driving feel above performance figures and lap times”. It is available in manual and automatic transmission variants and is powered by the latest BMW 2.0 litre engine. The latest Plus Four features a change to the standard suspension consisting of new spring rates and re-valved dampers and an optional Dynamic Handling Pack will be available from launch.
Inside, specific updates include the Sennheiser audio system, enhancements to the LCD screen and dashboard, new interior illumination, and a new key fob. Scottish leather is used sparingly within the cockpit and is trimmed using traditional tools.
Morgan prides itself on every build being a “true one-off” and uses old techniques handed down through generations to manufacture its cars.
The new Plus Four is available to order now and is priced from £62,500. The first models will be going into production in May 2024.
