INEOS Begins Grenadier Production for North America

INEOS Grenadier

The INEOS Grenadier will soon be seen across North America with production already beginning in France as INEOS Automotive start to fulfil the 7,000 orders already placed in the USA. First customer deliveries are due to start in November for the USA and a couple of months later for Canadian buyers.

First off the production line this week, having completed quality inspection, was a Belstaff Fieldmaster edition in Scottish White. This is expected to be the first of many as North America emerges as INEOS Automotive’s largest market. The idea for the Grenadier began when Sir Jim Ratcliffe, INEOS Automotive founder, wanted to create a modern replacement for the Land Rover Defender. Named after Ratcliffe’s favourite pub in Belgravia, production of the Grenadier initially began in July 2022 at INEOS Automotive’s Hambach facility, which it acquired from Mercedes in January 2021. With its boxy body, steel ladder chassis, beam axles with coil spring suspension and BMW six-cylinder engine, the Grenadier fulfilled Ratcliffe’s vision and first deliveries began in Europe late last year.

The North American branch of INEOS Automotive, headquartered in North Carolina, will now get to work on appointing a first wave of dealers across the US and Canada.

“The start of production for North American vehicles is a significant moment for INEOS Automotive, and for Hambach plant in particular,” says Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive. “We have been ramping up the production rate over the last six months to ensure we can deliver to customers as quickly as possible while maintaining the world-class quality standards we set for ourselves. With the addition of North America, Hambach is now producing for export to five continents. The Grenadier is truly a car for the world.”
