Hyundai IONIQ 6 wins treble at the World Car of the Year Awards.

Hyundai's IONIQ 6 has swept global awards, winning World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle and World Car Design of the Year.

The Electrified Streamliner is the second straight Hyundai IONIQ model to dominate World Car Awards after the IONIQ 5's treble triumph in 2022.

For the big prize, World Car of the Year, a jury of 100 automotive journalists from 32 countries chose the IONIQ 6 as the outstanding vehicle out of the three finalists, which included the BMW X1 and the Kia Niro.

The World Car of the Year awards cover seven categories, with the winners chosen from specific car classes, like Electric, Performance, Luxury and Urban. As well as this, there are separate World Car Person and World Car Design awards.

Hyundai, as both the company and the brand, has evolved in recent years with a range of more slick and appealing designs. The IONIQ 6 is styled like no other car. It is tall like an SUV, yet its rear is styled to improve aerodynamics. On the surface, it seems like a car that would split

opinions. However, if the latest World Car of the Year awards are anything to go by, the IONIQ 6 is and will become universally popular. Looking at it from the back, you can almost see a stretched-out Porsche 911, and who doesn't love a 911?

In December 2022, we were told in the UK how to pronounce Hyundai as part of a global rebranding campaign. So, before you start talking about the IONIQ, remember it's 'Hyun-day', not 'Hy-un-dai'.

I predict the Hyundai name will be celebrated much more in the coming years, as the brand plans to introduce 17 battery electric vehicles by 2030. In many people's minds, Hyndai is already the top EV-producing car brand currently operating today.
