1924 Le Mans winning Bentley to return 100 years later
The 1924 Bentley 3 Litre Sport Le Mans winning car will go from Brooklands to Le Mans to mark the beginning of its centenary celebrations.
In 1924, John Duff and Frank Clement set off from Brooklands Circuit for Le Mans in their Bentley 3 Litre Sport aiming for victory in the second 24 hour endurance race. They went on to complete 120 laps and secure victory, becoming the first Bentley to do so and writing their names in the history books for all time.
The Automobile Club de L’Ouest (ACO) and Vintage Bentley will recreate that same journey in the same car to mark the beginning of its centenary celebrations. Setting off from Brooklands, it will then head over to France, passing through Boulogne, Berck, Dieppe, Rouen, Evreux, Mortagne, and Mamers before reaching Le Mans.
The Bentley 3 Litre Sport will then lead a procession - including nine Hypercars, one LMP2 and seven LMGT3s - through the city centre of Le Mans before settling on display at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum from 9th June. It will then reappear at the Le Mans circuit during the 24 Hour race weekend between 14-16 June.
