Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale wins Design Concept Award in Italy

The win took place at Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este – which since 1929 has crowned the most beautiful vintage cars.

The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale has scooped the Design Concept Award for the fifth time at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este event on the shores of Lake Como.

The award for the 33 Stradale follows wins for the Brera, 8C Competizione, 8C Spider, TZ3, and Alfa Romeo 4C Concept models in past years. The custom built car is based on the Tipo 33 of the 1960s and only 33 will be made. Alfa says it “combines heritage and the future, and is produced according to a unique artisanal process, exactly the same way as in Renaissance artisan boutiques, and in the 1960s workshops of renowned Italian coachbuilders.”

The Italian brand also won in another of the main prizes at the event with Best in Show going to a 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Figoni. Part of the HM Collection in Belgium, and represented by Fiskens, it was voted by the judges at Best in Show after making it into the four Best of Show nominees grouping at last year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Elsewhere, the Coppa d’Oro prize, voted for by the public, went to a McLaren F1, the first hypercar from the British brand and still the fastest road car with a naturally aspirated engine in history
