Ford unveils Mustang and Bronco eBikes
Ford has continued its recent theme of reusing names from its past models by releasing two new eBikes - Bronco and Mustang.
In collaboration with cycling technology company N+, Ford says the eBikes will “bring the spirit and performance of Bronco and Mustang to two wheels”. Like its SUV equivalent, the Bronco is designed for off-road terrain while the Mustang is meant for road use.
Bronco eBike
Inspired by what Ford calls “the rugged performance and design” of the Bronco SUV, its eBike equivalent is powered by a 750W motor that generates 85Nm of torque and a top speed of 28mph. Riders sit on a motorcycle style seat and can expect around 60 miles of range on a 3.5 hour charge time. A dual suspension system and hydraulic brakes enhance control along with grippy Pirelli scorpion tyres.
A colour LCD panel on the handlebars provides the rider with real time info on speed, battery life and range.
Prices for the Bronco eBike begin at $4,500 (£3525) and for an extra $390 (£305), customers can choose a different colour from 10 other options.
Mustang eBikes
Ford is releasing two Mustang eBikes, one being a special limited edition 60th anniversary model.
Both models have the same powertrain as their Bronco sibling, with the 750W motor providing 85Nm of torque, 28mph top speed and 60 miles of range on a 3.5 hour charge.
Other than its regular bike seat, the standout difference on the Mustangs is the Pirelli Angel GT semi-slick tyres which increase speed and handling on the road. The 60th Anniversary Edition will be available to buy exclusively through Ford dealers in limited numbers.
Prices for the Mustang start at $4,000 (£3,133) and customers can choose from 10 additional colours for an extra $390 (£305).
Order books are now open with deliveries set to happen later this year.
