Ferrari SC40 is a one-off V6 powered F40 & 296 GTB mix
The newest Ferrari has been revealed by the Prancing Horse as a 652bhp mid-rear engined V6 powered one-off that is seriously easy on the eye.
The Ferrari SC40 is the work of the brand’s Special Projects programme, and more specifically, Flavio Manzoni and his team from Ferrari’s Styling Centre. The SC40 has been tailored to the vision of a single client and, while it takes its architecture, chassis, and powertrain from the 296 GTB, its name pays tribute to the legendary F40.
Exterior
Despite its obvious styling cues from Ferraris gone by, the Italian brand said its goal with the SC40 was to create a model with ‘its own distinct personality’. Painted in a white colour developed specifically for this car, this is an F40 will smoother edges, although the muscular wheel arches give it plenty of presence.
There’s a distinctive, high rear wing that gives the SC40 balance, while a central titanium and carbon fibre manufactured exhaust is flanked by 296 GTB style taillights. From the front, the black strip we’ve seen on the bonnet of Ferraris recent efforts is almost incorporated into the headlight design, albeit not joined in the centre. There are two rectangular frames which outline the redesigned brake air intakes, sitting above the daytime running lights.
Interior
Inside, the carbon-Kevlar material used on the F40 features in the footwells, behind the seats and on parts of the floor mats. It is also used on the steering wheel, dashboard inserts, engine bay and luggage compartment.
The distinctive upholstery is a mix of Charcoal Alcantara and a red Jacquard technical fabric, with the Prancing Horse and SC40 logo woven into the seats.
Where can it been seen?
As for speed, you can expect it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds, although for now, the SC40 will sit still at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello from Saturday October 18th.
