Electric Fisker Ocean SUV that has Battery Swap Potential

In an automotive world with an ever-rising production of SUVs, a new player has entered the mix. Fisker, the California-based company focused on a sustainable and clean future, has produced the Fisker Ocean all-electric SUV, with its first customer taking delivery in Denmark.

Fisker Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker completed the handover of the car at the recently opened Fisker Center+ facility in Copenhagen. A limited Ocean One launch edition model certainly stuck to its theme, with, Great White exterior paintwork and white Sea Salt interior.

Range, and lots of it, is what sets the Fisker Ocean One and Extreme-specification models apart from other all-electric SUVs available on the European market. On 20” wheels and tires, 440 miles is how far you can expect to travel on a full charge.

Deliveries will continue in Europe, with the US to follow at a later date.

And for potential customers of the Ocean One SUV, Fisker has announced a partnership with Ample, a battery-swapping startup. The time it takes to charge an EV can be anywhere between 20 to 60 minutes, and rather than depleting and recharging the same battery over and over, Ample offers the service of swapping out a dead pack for a fresh one.

How does it work? When a driver goes into one of Ample’s stations, the vehicle is lifted and its dead battery is removed and replaced with a fully charged one. The whole process takes a few minutes and is comparable, timewise, with filling your car up at a petrol station.

This is already proving popular with Uber drivers in California, who use Ample’s service to avoid long charging stops and therefore, have more time to be able to be available on the road. The company already has plans to expand this operation into Europe.
