BYD partners with Truckman to provide accessories for new Shark

BYD has partnered with British-based accessories specialist Truckman to provide an approved range of accessories for its new Shark pick-up truck.

Truckman will add 40 years of experience in the pick-up field to the new Shark, and on the agenda are a selection of load bed hardtops, tonneau covers and cross bars, which will all be available to order from BYD retailers. Nationwide fitting and support is being offered by Truckman, as well as the benefit of a three-year warranty.

Accessories are a big market across the wider pick-up segment in the UK due to their versatility, with the vehicles being used for a range of purposes across business and leisure.

Which accessories are available?

For a price of £2,716.22, customers can get a Grand Hardtop, which is colour-coded to match the original vehicle. It comes with pop-out windows, rear window heating and remote central locking, adding extra weatherproof carrying capacity for the 1,200-litre load bed. It has been designed with a curving window line in order to seamlessly fit to the Shark.

A rugged alternative choice is the M-Series, at a price of £2,412, which comes in a durable powder-coated finish and can live with slightly rougher treatment. It has gull-wing side windows to make it easier to load and unload from the sides and rear of the Shark, while multiple mounting options enable it to carry a range of accessories.

There’s also the choice of two tonneau covers, one which features a manually retractable cover (£1,245.60) and the other that is operated electrically and can be opened and closed remotely using a smartphone app (£1,756.80). There is an IP56 weather resistance rating and a T-slot system to fit optional cargo bars on both, which includes the £344.40 Heavy Duty Black Cross Bars.

The £244.14 DragMat makes accessing items in the load bed easier thanks to ergonomic handles and can handle over 100kg of tools, camping equipment or appliances, as well as giving it extra protection from scratches.

A full review of the BYD Shark will be dropping on Driven in the near future.
