Beach buggy parades to kick off each day of Goodwood Revival
Swapping the sunny beaches of California for West Sussex.
A parade containing 100 pre-1966 beach buggies will kick off proceedings each morning at the Goodwood Revival in September - a first for the famous motor circuit.
The parades coincide with the 60th-anniversary celebrations from Meyers Manx of its original beach buggy. Initially designed for desert racing, the Meyers Manx was produced by Bruce F. Meyers’ company, B. F. Meyers & Co. from 1964 to 1971 using shortened chassis from Volkswagen Beetles. Approximately 6,000 were produced in this period.
The company closed for business after hitting financial problems following Meyers’ departure. It was later revived in 2000 as Meyers Manx, Inc. with new vehicles inspired by the original from the ‘60s.
The Revival is known for its wide variety of vehicles on display and last year’s event saw the largest ever motorcycle parade. This year’s event will see every race running exclusively on sustainable fuels for the first time. The life and career of John Surtees will be celebrated 60 years on from his World Championship win with Ferrari.
