The Ariel Atom 4RR is a 525bhp road-legal beast

Lightweight performance specialist brand Ariel has marked 25 years of the Atom by creating its most powerful model to date, the Atom 4RR.

Bespoke Powertrain & Performance Figures

The 4RR is track-focused yet fully road-legal and is the first Ariel model to be powered by a bespoke powertrain, producing 525 bhp and revving to 8,200rpm. The hand-built engine, which took over 100 hours to create, uses the tried and tested 2.0-litre Honda K20C Type R unit, with almost every significant internal and external component replaced, upgraded or re-engineered to motorsport spec.

The 525bhp is delivered through a Quaife six-speed sequential gearbox with lightweight drive discs, motorsport differential and pneumatic paddle shift.

The quickest-ever Atom is capable of doing a 0-62mph sprint in 2.4 seconds, while hitting 100mph in just 5.1 seconds. Ariel says that while the Atom 4RR is fully road legal, it is “a car intended for the most demanding and enthusiastic track‑oriented owners”.

Lightweight Chassis

The 4RR’s fully bronze-welded chassis is stronger than previous Atoms, and, along with fully adjustable twin-tube Öhlins dampers, machined aluminium uprights, aerofoil-section adjustable chromoly wishbones and pushrods, the whole car weighs below 700kg.

The full adjustability allows owners to set up the 4RR for different circuits and to suit their individual driving style.

Cockpit

The cockpit of the 4RR comes into its own out on track, and features a motorsport‑inspired, scrollable TFT display providing lap timing, performance and delta metrics. For extra track driving experience, Ariel will also offer driver training with the company’s chief test driver as part of the ownership journey.

Buying Experience & Price

Each Atom 4RR will be made to order and built to the individual customer's spec, with options including a plated differential, electronically controlled dampers, motorsport-approved roll cage and even on-board air jacks.

As part of the buying process, customers will be invited to Ariel’s factory in Crewkerne, Somerset, to liaise with engineers and technicians responsible for constructing their car.

Prices for the 4RR start from £208,000 plus taxes, and the model is available in extremely limited numbers.
