Alinghi Red Bull Racing BoatOne unveiled in Barcelona

While Red Bull’s Formula 1 team continue to dominate proceedings on track in Japan, the Alinghi Red Bull Racing team’s boat was unveiled in Barcelona ahead of the start of the 37th America’s Cup in August.

In front of an onlooking crowd, the Alinghi Red Bull base in Port Vell was transformed into a circus for the grand ceremony of its new challenger which emerged from a cloud of smoke and was joined by a show-stopping performance from local Catalan urban theatre troupe, La Fura Dels Baus.

The Swiss-backed team’s AC75 challenger ‘BoatOne’ has been years in the making and has been built in-house for the first time. It is the first of the America’s Cup teams’ challengers to be revealed this year. The finishing touches and final tweaks will be applied before the boat is christened and sets off for its maiden sail next week.

The team later posted:

The 37th America’s Cup runs from Thursday 22nd August – Sunday 20th October 2024.
