£1.5 Million Worth of Cars Sold at H&H Classics Auction

H&H Classics’ hosted its final in person auction of the year at Pavilion Gardens, Buxton and saw over £1.5 million worth of vehicles sold to classic car enthusiasts. Almost 100 classic, collectable, and performance cars were sold on November 29th with the highlight being the sale of the 1954 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe once owned by renowned racing driver, Patsy Burt. The car fetched £113,850, meeting its expected estimate and making it the largest sale of the auction.

Another from the famous British brand - a 1964 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 litre Fixed Head Coupe - was picked up for a six-figure price. Having undergone a quality restoration which included converting it from left to right-hand drive and fitting a replacement engine, the car changed hands for £100,500.

There were gems in the British classic lightweight sportscar category as a 1968 Austin Healey 100/6 sold for £41,400, while a 1954 Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 fetched £28,750. Two 70s Lotus cars in the form of a Carnival Red 1971 Lotus Elan Sprint FHC and a 1971 Lotus Elan Sprint Drophead Coupe sold for £25,300 and £24,150 respectively.

It wasn’t just cars that sold for pricey amounts either as a numberplate, ‘AMW 1’, sold for £51,750 making it the fifth highest sale item of the day.

“2024 is already shaping up to be another exciting year ahead and we look forward to announcing our sale dates in due course,” concluded Damian Jones, senior motorcar specialist at H&H Classics.
