Volkswagen Previews ID X Performance Concept Car

Volkswagen ID.X Performance

Volkswagen has given us a preview of what its future performance models could look like, with the unveiling of the ID X Performance in Locarno, Switzerland. Based on the ID 7, the electric super saloon is track focused in both its performance and styling, with lowered suspension and dual motors enabling 558bhp.

The concept car sits on 20-inch alloy wheels and is 60mm closer to the ground compared to the ID 7. Carbon fibre wheel arch extensions accommodate wider sticky track tyres. The rear wing, designed for greater downforce, is the standout feature at first glance and red accents along the sides, wing and carbon fibre rear diffuser add to that racing feel of the car. Inside, you’ll find carbon bucket seats, again with red detailing.

While this car is merely a concept and won’t go on sale, the reveal of the Volkswagen ID 7 GTX later this month will offer enthusiasts something similar if sporty electric saloons are your thing. In 2022, 330,000 all-electric vehicles were delivered to customers worldwide and VW will be hoping to improve on that number as its technology becomes more innovative and powerful.
