Vauxhall reveals new ‘streamlined’ Griffin logo

The logo changes in the motoring world just keep on coming.

Last week it was McLaren that announced its decision to adopt new lettering across its racing and automotive divisions. Now, Vauxhall is joining the party with an updated, ‘streamlined’ evolution of its famous Griffin logo. The brand says the more contemporary look is ‘set to complement he next evolution of Vauxhall’s Bold and Pure design language’ and introduces a more angular design for the Griffin, while removing the flag for the first time.

The Griffin has been used by Vauxhall since 1915 and has seen several changes in the subsequent century and a bit. The new logo will be adopted by the next all-new Vauxhall production model set to appear in 2027 and future electric vehicles. Our first sighting of it, however, will be on the recently announced Vauxhall STX Concept, which is set to be unveiled at next month’s Paris Motor Show.

It will also complement the Vauxhall Vizor grille, which has become a key feature of the brand’s design since its introduction in 2021 and is now seen across its entire line-up. The simpler logo will be illuminated on the Vizor grille, a feature that was added to the New Astra in 2026 and will appear on future Vauxhall models.

You’ll be seeing the streamlined Griffin in retailers across the country, and its introduction coincides with the launch of ‘Brit’s What We Do’ campaign that celebrates the brand’s role in UK society and will evolve in the run-up to the 2028 Olympics, with Vauxhall the Official Car & Van Partner of Team GB.

Mark Adams, Vauxhall Design Vice-President, said: “The Griffin emblem is instantly recognisable, with Vauxhalls seen on almost every street in Britain. Having adorned our vehicles in different forms for more than 120 years, we wanted to retain its essential elements while streamlining it for the next generation of electrified vehicles.

As the Griffin is now illuminated on the front of our latest models, this simpler design also makes it clearer and easier to identify. The new look is sharper, cleaner and fits perfectly with the next evolution of our Bold and Pure design language.”
