Vauxhall adds sub £23k petrol-powered Frontera to range
Vauxhall is adding a petrol-powered Frontera to its range, joining previously released electric and hybrid SUV variants.
With prices starting at £22,820, it represents the cheapest new Frontera of the entire range and is powered by a new 1.2-litre petrol powertrain, complete with a six-speed manual transmission. In terms of performance, expect 98bhp and 205Nm of torque, giving it a 0-62mph sprint time of 12.4 seconds in five-seat form and 13.3 seconds in seven-seat form.
There are plenty of colour options to choose from beyond the standard Carbon Black metallic paint colour, though these — Crystal Silver, Arctic White, Canyon Orange, Khaki Green and Effect Blue — add an extra £650 plus VAT to the overall price.
The Frontera is available to buy in three spec levels — Design, GS and Ultimate.
Starting at £22,820, the entry-level Design spec comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, electronic climate control, Intelli-LED headlights, and driver aids such as a rear-view camera, cruise control, and speed sign recognition.
The middle tier GS spec is priced at £25,220 and adds extra spice to the mix with the additions of a gloss black roof and matching gloss black wing mirrors, the ergonomically designed Intelli-Seats for the driver and front passenger, satellite navigation, a wireless phone charger, and added driver aids such as blind spot alert.
At the top of the range is the Ultimate spec, which, for £26,020, includes a heated windscreen, heated steering wheel, and heated front seats, along with high-gloss black roof rails and LED front fog lamps.
While the petrol-powered version becomes the cheapest of the Frontera range, thanks to the subsidy from the Government’s Electric Car Grant, the electric variant only costs an extra £475.
