Toyota has announced pricing for its new GR Yaris. Set to be one of the most in-demand new cars of this year, and with limited numbers available, the 2024 iteration builds on the original model which brought a five-time rally champion car to the road.

Significant enhancements have been made to the original including an update to the turbocharged three-cylinder engine giving a larger 276bhp and 390Nm in power and torque. There is also the introduction of a new optional rally-derived eight-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic Transmission, though six-speed intelligent manual transmission comes as standard. The suspension has also been tweaked for greater handling and performance with revised spring rates and a strengthened front shock absorber assembly.

The new GR Yaris has been developed with the help of Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Champions Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä, each driver getting their own special edition. ‘Gravel’ and ‘Track’ AWD modes featured on the standard GR Yaris have now been replaced with settings reprogrammed for each driver’s personal preferences in handling and performance.

Inside, the cockpit has been given a new layout and adjusted driving experience to mirror its rally credentials.

Four options are available for the new GR Yaris:
GR Yaris - 6-speed intelligent manual - £44,250
GR Yaris - 8-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic - £45,750
GR Yaris Ogier Edition - 6-speed intelligent manual - £60,000
GR Yaris Rovanperä Edition - 6-speed intelligent manual - £60,000

So how do you get to the front of the queue? Toyota will initially be in touch with existing GR Yaris owners and those who joined the waiting list before May 2022 to give details of a ballot to enter for the chance to buy one of the UK’s 2024 allocation.
