Torrens Trophy win for Triumph
This week, Triumph Motorcycles was awarded the Torrens Trophy at an event at the Royal Automobile Club in London.
The prestigious award has been given to recipients since the 1970s and recognises Britain’s highest achiever in motorcycling and motorcycle racing, whether that be riders, engineers, manufacturers or personalities from the field. Previous winners include eleven-time TT winner Ian Hutchinson, Emma Bristow and BMW.
Triumph has been recognised for its work in the Moto2 World Championship - the final stepping stone before MotoGP - with its three-cylinder 765 engines covering over one million kilometres, achieving 95 race and outright lap records and helping 21 different riders win a Moto2 race. Speeds of nearly 190mph have been seen at some of the tracks in what is one of the world’s most difficult and demanding sports.
Since its original inception in 1902, Triumph Motorcycles has produced iconic and stylish bikes that have resonated with bikers across the world. Last year the company delivered 86,653 bikes last year and is still Britain’s largest motorcycle manufacturer.
In competition, Triumph has won the prestigious Daytona 200-mile race as well as other important international successes and has five Moto2 champions since 2019. In 2024, Triumph Racing will enter motocross for the first time, competing in the American Supercross and Pro Motocross championships.
