The All-new Dacia Spring is the UK’s cheapest new electric car
The All-new Dacia Spring is officially the UK’s cheapest new electric car with a launch price of £14,995 on the road.
The five-door supermini is available in either mid-range Expression or top-of-the-range Extreme trim levels. These offer a range of 137 miles (WLTP mixed cycle) or 186 miles (WLTP urban cycle).
Pre-orders are now open for interested customers and a complimentary £250 towards accessories, public charging, or a contribution for a home charger through Mobilize Power Solutions is offered by Dacia.
There is a choice between 45hp or 65hp from a 48kW motor and using a 7kW charger, the 26.8 kWh battery can be charged from 20% to 100% on a domestic outlet in less than 11 hours, or in four hours on a 7kW wall box.
The Expression trim, available with either 45hp or 65hp, includes a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, height-adjustable 3-spoke steering wheel, Media Control system with USB port, speed limiter, cruise control, steering wheel mounted controls, central locking with remote control, electric front windows, rear parking sensors, 12V socket and manual air conditioning as standard. 15-inch wheels are available for the 65 version only.
The Extreme trim (starting from £16,995) is available only powered by the 65hp powertrain and comes with copper interior and exterior finishes, electric mirrors and rear windows, the Media Nav Live multimedia system with a 10-inch centre screen, two USB ports and wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are also a host of safety features as standard including an advanced emergency braking system, traffic sign recognition with speed alert, rear park assist, emergency stop signal, lane change alert, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, and emergency call.
In terms of storage space, the All-new Spring has 1,004 litres with the back seats folded down and nearly 31 litres throughout the cabin.
The price tag puts the Spring inside the UK’s top 10 most affordable cars. What is the cheapest, I hear you ask? Well, currently that accolade goes to the Citroen Ami, on sale for just £7,695.
The All-New Dacia Spring will arrive in the UK in October and pre-orders are now open.
