SsangYong rebrands as KGM Motors
Ssangyong has rebranded as KGM Motors and simultaneously revealed some new models that will be coming to the UK
The rebranding comes after SsangYong was bought by Korea’s KG Group in 2022 and coming to the market in Q1 of this year are two new SUVs, the petrol-powered Torres and electric Torres EVX.
The petrol-powered Torres will feature a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and six-speed automatic gearbox, while the all-electric Torres EVX includes an LED bar giving it a more modern look and has a range of up to 287 miles.
Both Torres variants have two 12.3-inch displays, one being an infotainment touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Andriod Auto, while the other is an instrument panel.
With the rebranding comes a new trim-level structure across its line up. K30, K40 and K50 are available initially and more affordable K20 models could be coming later down the line.
Two further electric SUVs will be hitting the market along with an electric pickup truck being partly developed by BYD of China, although this is expected in late 2024 to mid 2025.
The brand’s 73 dealerships will be rebranded as KGM Motors by the middle of this year but will be sticking with SsangYong’s dragon wing logo.
Kevin Griffin, managing director of KGM UK, said: “The re-interpretation of the future design vision draws heavily on our unique heritage. As with the new brand identity, this marks a new era for both design and product, with all models moving forward adhering to this exciting, new approach – and we have some exciting new model launches coming.”
