Skoda Celebrates Coronation with Royal Green
On May 6th, the eyes of the world will be fixed on London, as the coronation of King Charles III takes place at Westminster Abbey. In this most British of celebrations, there’s news from the Czech Republic, Škoda has announced it is set to mark the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla with a brand new colour, Royal Green. Royal Green has been reserved for the range-topping versions in their respective models as an exclusive metallic colour option, with the Superb, Octavia and Kodiaq all selected for the royal treatment.
In the Superb, SE L customers will be able to match the new exterior Royal Green colour with either black or beige interior trim, while L&K buyers will have the added option of a luxury cognac interior. Luxurious, spacious and very royal.
Green is a colour with previous royal associations. The hearse used for the funeral of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh was a Land Rover Defender TD5 130 painted in military green.
King Charles’ connection to the Czech Republic is strong, having visited the country several times in his previous role as the Prince of Wales. A heritage fund with then-president Václav Havel was set up in the early 1990s to help restore and preserve the country’s historic buildings. Among the landmarks restored by the fund were a former monastery of St. Bartholemew in Prague’s Old Town and the terrace gardens below Prague castle. The Prince of Wales also visited other parts of the Czech Republic such as Brno, the second largest city, in 1991, 2000 and 2010.
As Electric Vehicle culture gathers pace, King Charles’ was ahead of the curve, voicing concerns about our planet's environmental future for several years. Having already owned a car which runs on disused wine, in 2018 Charles took delivery of the Royal Family’s first all-electric car, which he uses for all his official duties in London.
The Škoda Royal Green models will be available to order on Tuesday 9th May.
